Brookside Glen South St. Paddy`s Day Parade
We are going to start this year`s parade by the baseball fields behind Brookside. We will have concession stands open before the parade. Can`t wait for March 13th!
Our parade last year was a true success with the number of marching participants and spectators being much larger than was originally anticipated. Our parade was kicked off by a fire engine and police car from the Village of Tinley Park. It concluded with a mobile sponsor board which proudly boasted the names of the businesses that supported our efforts last year. We had individual families march, as well as businesses, and even The Hughes Academy of Irish dancers. We had several positive write ups in local papers including The Southtown, The Tinley Junction, and The Frankfort Station.

Climb the Summit, Reach the Stars” benefit

To Brookside Glen Neighbors,
The Summit Hill Educational Foundation (“SHEF”) would like to personally invite the entire Brookside Glen community to our annual spring “Climb the Summit, Reach the Stars” benefit on Friday, April 30, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. to midnight at CD&Me in Frankfort. This year our benefit will include appetizers, music, fun, silent auction, bucket raffles and other exciting opportunities to win prizes. On-line ticket sales through PayPal will be available on our website in early March. We will post the link to our website when registration opens as well as a link to the downloadable version of the invite for mail-in registration. Tickets will again be $35 in advance and $40 after April 19th and at the door.
Some of you already know us, but we would like to take this opportunity to introduce the Foundation to those who do not know us, and reacquaint our friends and neighbors whose children may no longer be in the school district. SHEF is a non-profit organization founded in 2006 by a group of parents, teachers and administrators whose primary goal is to generate financial support in order to enrich and enhance the opportunities and educational experiences of the students of Summit Hill School District 161. SHEF Needs Your Help
With the generous support from District families, teachers and the local business community, SHEF raised over $32,500 last year, and over $100,000 in the last three years to assist in the enhancement of the current curricula by purchasing additional materials for various education programs throughout the district. The money raised by SHEF is distributed back to the District schools in June, after the completion of the teacher requested grant application and voting processes.
